Lt General J.L Malhotra PVSM, AVSM, VSM.
Retired in 1994 and started a social welfare project in 1996, to provide free
artificial limbs to needy persons, both ex-servicemen and civilians. Having
assisted 360 people with artificial limbs from various parts of India, he was
approached at a prosthetic centre by disabled parents, who desired that their
only daughter be educated as she was brilliant. Moved by their determination,
he decided to help them and founded the Society for Meritorious Students in
2002. Thereafter the General selected like-minded people to form the society.
Thus was born this noble mission.

Principal R.C. Jeewan
Retired from DAV college Sec-10, Chandigarh in September 2001, after serving
the cause of education for nearly four decades. Hailing from a family of
educationists, he founded scores of educational institutions including MCM DAV
college Kangra. Widely travelled, he has been honoured and decorated by
various educational and social organizations for invaluable contribution in
the field of education . He possesses wide and varied experience in his field.
With a flair to serve, he joined the society since its inception. In him, we
have a guiding light for the children who wish to excel in education.

Former chief Engineer Punjab State Electricity Board. Retired in 1998 and
started social service as a member of the Rotary club.

Members
Dr. Ranjana Malik
Served in the Army Medical Corps and the Oil and Natural Gas Commission. As
Deputy Chief Medical Officer in ONGC she took premature retirement to involve
herself with all welfare activities of the families of a million strong Indian
Army. Her commitment and concern for widows, disabled and wounded soldiers &
specially challenged children was commendable. During Kargil war, when the General
V.P Malik was COAS, she gave a new direction to all welfare measures and
prioritized all relief. She continues to be actively involved in
social work.

Dr. Balram K. Gupta
(Sr. Advocate)
Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India and High Court of Punjab and Haryana,
Chandigarh. He has been Ex-Professor and Chairman, Department of Law, Punjab
University Chandigarh. He is holding the position of Honorary Dean, Faculty of
Law, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. He Lectured at London School of
Economics(LSE), School of Original and African Studies(SOAS), University of
Cambridge(UK), London (UK) Columbia(USA) and George Washington(USA). He is also
a visiting Professor to a number of universities including London School of
Economics.

Col. B.M.Sabhlok
He is a Post Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Roorkee and an MBA.
After pre-mature retirement from the Indian Army, he took a teaching assignment in the
Bharrain Training Institute. He joined the Society for Meritorious Students in 2006 and is
a very committed social worker.

Principal Balwant Rai Gupta
Principal Balwant Rai Gupta has a brilliant academic record. He worked
as Principal Maharaja Harisingh Collegiate School, Nagbani, Jammu from
1986 to 2003.
Instrumental working after a number of affiliated educational
instruction in J&K including an orphanage. A committed
educationists, he is totally involved in social service.

Mr. K.L.Seth
Worked as a principal D . A .V .Public School, Jamul, ACC Cement Works, Durg
,Bhilai(M.P). He has a long experience of teaching science to secondary classes
.He superannuated from D. A .V . Sr . Sec . school ,Chandigarh after serving
for more than 30 years . He also served as President of Govt. Aided School
Teacher's association of Chandigarh. Students are very fond of his
forthrightness and sincerity.

Mr.D.L.Jindal
Mr.D.L. Jindal retired as Regional Manager from Zenica Agro Chemical Ltd,
a group Co. of ICI, UK. From 2001 to 2004, he did social service in Bhatinda
and also the first President of Vigilant Citizens Forum, Bhatinda which was formed to eradiate
corruption in public places. He joined the society in 2007 and is an extremely
compassionate and committed social worker.He is the Secretary and Treasurer of the Society.
